HOW TO MEASURE
HOW TO MEASURE
The frame is made of 3/4 inch or 1 inch square aluminum tube, depending on the awning size you choose. Where it attaches to the wall it is the shape of an upside down U. A typical awning frame will be mounted 6 to 12 inches above the window. See below.
Actual width of awning frame is 1/2 inch wider than call-out size.
Example: 6 foot awning is 6 foot 1/2 inch wide to inside of vertical frame rails.
Measuring the Width
A typical awning frame can be mounted either tight to the window or wide (0-12 inches on the sides). When measuring, watch out for pop-outs around windows. Awning should be mounted outside pop-outs, not on top. See below.
Example if mounting wide: For a 7 foot wide window, a standard 8 foot wide awning will hang 6 inches past each side.
For custom sizes: Measure inside width to frame rails and go to next higher standard size for pricing.
